Terms of Service

Last updated: January 2025

1. Service Overview

Robin Cards provides virtual prepaid cards funded by ETH deposits on Robinhood chain. Cards are issued by a licensed program partner. Robin Cards is not a bank, money transmitter, or financial institution. By using the service, you agree to these terms in full.

2. Prohibited Countries

Robin Cards may not be used by residents or nationals of the following jurisdictions. Using a VPN or proxy to circumvent this restriction is grounds for immediate account termination and forfeiture of collateral:

  • United States of America and its territories
  • North Korea (DPRK)
  • Iran
  • Cuba
  • Syria
  • Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions
  • Myanmar (Burma)
  • Any jurisdiction where virtual card services or cryptocurrency transactions are prohibited by law

3. Restricted Merchants & Prohibited Use

Robin Cards may not be used for purchases at the following merchant categories. Transactions attempted at restricted merchants will be declined and repeated attempts may result in account termination:

  • Gambling, casinos, and betting platforms
  • Adult content and services
  • Cryptocurrency exchanges and on-ramps (no circular funding)
  • Money orders, wire transfers, and financial instruments
  • Weapons, ammunition, and explosives retailers
  • Illegal drugs, controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia
  • Any illegal activity under applicable law

4. Payment & ETH Deposits

All payments are made in ETH on Robinhood chain. When you create an order, you are given a unique deposit address and a 20-minute window to send the exact ETH amount displayed. Key terms:

  • The ETH amount is calculated at the current market rate at order creation time.
  • If your deposit is not received within 20 minutes, the order expires. No funds are lost if nothing was sent.
  • Deposits sent after expiry, to the wrong address, on the wrong chain, or in the wrong amount may not be recoverable.
  • On-chain transactions are irreversible. Always verify the chain (Robinhood) and address before sending.
  • A small gas buffer (~$0.50) is added to the price to cover transaction costs.

5. Collateral System

Your ETH deposit serves as collateral backing your card's spending limit. The collateral system works as follows:

  • Collateral is held for the lifetime of the card.
  • When you close your card, collateral is returned minus any outstanding balance or fees.
  • Collateral may be partially or fully forfeited if you violate these terms (e.g., using prohibited merchants, circumventing country restrictions).
  • Collateral values are denominated in USD at the time of deposit. ETH price fluctuations after deposit do not change your card's spending limit.

6. Subscription & Recurring Charges

Robin Cards does not charge a recurring subscription fee. Card issuance is a one-time payment per card. However:

  • If you use your card for recurring subscriptions with third-party merchants, those charges will be deducted from your card balance.
  • If your card balance is insufficient for a recurring charge, the transaction will be declined.
  • Robin Cards is not responsible for managing your third-party subscriptions.

7. Account Termination

Robin Cards reserves the right to terminate your account and close your cards immediately, without prior notice, if:

  • You are located in or a national of a prohibited country.
  • You use the card at restricted merchants or for prohibited activities.
  • You attempt to exploit the system through chargebacks, disputes, or fraud.
  • You create excessive pending orders (rate limiting applies).
  • Any other violation of these terms.

Upon termination for violation, collateral may be partially or fully forfeited at our discretion. Upon voluntary account closure in good standing, remaining collateral will be returned after a 7-day settlement period.

8. Limitation of Liability

Robin Cards is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for:

  • ETH price fluctuations after your deposit.
  • Funds sent to incorrect addresses or on incorrect chains.
  • Merchant declines or service disruptions outside our control.
  • Loss of access to your wallet (we cannot recover wallet access).
  • Regulatory changes that affect service availability in your jurisdiction.

9. Privacy

Robin Cards collects minimal data: your wallet address and transaction history on our platform. We do not collect identity documents, email addresses (unless you voluntarily provide one for support), or personal information. On-chain transaction history is public by nature of blockchain.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of Robin Cards after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be noted on the site.
